Corradino D'Ascanio and Nazareno Fonticoli, two exceptional figures from Abruzzo

Nazareno Fonticoli and Corradino D’Ascanio, two exceptional figures from Abruzzo, have made their mark in different fields. Fonticoli, born in Penne in 1923, was the co-founder of Brioni, elevating men's fashion to new levels of sartorial elegance and international recognition. His craftsmanship made Brioni a symbol of luxury. D’Ascanio, born in 1891, was an engineer and designer, famous for the invention of the helicopter and the creation of the Vespa scooter. His innovative genius in transportation design has left a lasting impact. Both, despite dedicating themselves to different disciplines, are proud assets of Abruzzo.

ISIA Pescara began as an offshoot course of ISIA Rome in 2009, with support from the Fondazione Pescarabruzzo. The methodology guiding ISIA Pescara, inherited from ISIA Rome’s over forty years of educational experience, relies on a team of faculty selected from the best professionals in the region and a small number of students.

This favourable student-to-teacher ratio allows for the training of young professionals in the Bachelor's degree in Product and Communication Design and subsequently in the Master's degree in Multimedia Design, equipping them to work in the most current and advanced sectors of design, communication, and multimedia.

ISIA Pescara’s commitment to the Abruzzo region was demonstrated in 2008, even before the establishment of the Bachelor's course, with a Master's in Hospitality Design aimed at enhancing the cultural and territorial heritage of the Abruzzo region. About ten students attended this Master’s program, most of whom did not come from a specific design background.

In 2016, thanks to local synergies activated during educational activities, ISIA Pescara participated in the “INNOVALAB” project, which won MUR funding (project “Territorial Laboratories for Employability”). This project, currently being implemented, will create a widespread laboratory in the Teatina area, offering students aged 14-25 the tools to carry out projects in design, interaction design, multimedia, video editing, and interactive reconstruction of cultural heritage.

In 2015 ISIA Pescara was recognized as the fifth ISIA in Italy.
